Wonder Woman leads the fierce females of ‘Batman v Superman’

You might remember Gal Gadot from the Fast and the Furious movies, but it’s more likely that you’ve heard about the Israeli beauty in the buzz surrounding the superhero movie of the moment, Superman V. Batman: Dawn of Justice. It’s probably too soon for a trailer, but a teaser of the teaser trailer for a full-length trailer might not be out of the question.

Aside from the popular ’70s television series starring Lynda Carter as Princess Diana of Themyscira, we’ve seen nary a Wonder Woman adaptation on our screens. Gravity defying vehicle franchise aside, Gadot was still a relative unknown when she was announced as the new Wonder Woman in 2013. “She always says, ‘Yeah, they fall asleep and the prince saves them.’ I’m so happy about the fact that we are bringing Wonder Woman back to life”. By that point, Gadot had gone through nine months of rigorous training focusing on martial arts and sword work to get into Wonder Woman shape.

“The story deals with Diana becoming Wonder Woman so she starts very pure, very naive, this young idealist who doesn’t really understand the complexities of life”, Gadot said.

The appearance of the character has been one of the most talked about aspects of the Warner Bros film which has received mixed reviews from critics.

But in Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman is not the secretary.

“I think there’s an obsession about breasts in general”, she said simply.

While her introduction might be predicated on her glamorous image, her power is what makes her stand out, and “Batman v Superman” gives a little preview of her fighting skills, too. For the most part those kinetic scenes all had one thing in common: Wonder Woman.

Regardless of the final box-office numbers, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has already accomplished one major feat: Zack Snyder’s film has successfully introduced Wonder Woman to critical applause.

“She’s been around, she’s very experienced, she’s darker, she’s sassy, she understands a lot about mankind”, Gadot said of her character. But in a recent Fandango poll, 88 percent of moviegoers interested in the latest DC Comics film said that what they were most looking forward to was seeing Wonder Woman on-screen. We’ve had to watch poor Thomas and Martha Wayne get brutally murdered 1,823 times in Dolby Digital, but it’s taken more than seven decades to see Wonder Woman on the big screen? Smh.
