South Africa to tour India from September to December

Fans, brace yourselves as the India vs South Africa series prepares itself to keep you occupied this October and November. Kolkata and Cuttack are the other venues chosen for the other T20Is. The ODIs are set to be held in Chennai – which will be hosting an ODI match after a gap of nearly three years – and Kanpur, Indore (MPCA), Rajkot and Mumbai. The two teams last met on Indian soil in ODIs during the 2011 World Cup, with South Africa narrowly winning by three wickets in Nagpur.

The fixture list for South Africa’s tour of India has been announced.

“I am delighted to confirm, together with the BCCI, the Proteas’ itinerary for our tour of India later this year”, said CSA Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat. During the 72-day period, the Proteas will play three-Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), five-One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and four-Tests. Another first is that we will be playing our first T20 worldwide match against India in India.

The second Test in Bangalore, scheduled to start from November 14, is also likely to be AB de Villiers’ 100th Test. De Villiers has played 98 Tests so far and is not a part of South Africa’s squad in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh.

The current Pakistan test skipper has even told that he is aware of the fact that as he has already crossed 40-years there is not much of cricket left in him, and if the series against India took place, he would like to play that series and probably retire after that.
