The formal date for swearing in for new government in Jammu & Kashmir, is yet to be finalized. The media, in the absence of any official word from the BJP, inferred that the PDP-BJP compromise was all but sealed. “We will stick to the Agenda of Alliance formed between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted, “Mehbooba ji shud publicly clear her stand on this deal with BJP”.

With People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nominating Mehbooba Mufti as legislative party head and chief ministerial candidate on Thursday and BJP choosing Nirmal Singh as deputy chief minister all seemed well with both the parties. While the BJP refused to give anything in writing, senior leaders, including finance minister Arun Jaitley, provided repeated assurances that the Centre’s promises to Jammu and Kashmir will be kept.
Following nomination of Nirmal Singh as BJP legislature party leader, Sharma told reporters that the two allies will seek fresh appointment with the governor. She was alluding to the traditional horse-trading undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir by the Congress in the past. The Kashmir Valley sends 46 and four legislators are elected by the Ladakh region. Prime Minister Modi too was comfortable with him on the whole.

It is highly unlikely the two have reached an agreement without understanding each other.
