Wonder Woman female posse unveiled, includes Robin Wright from House of Cards

It’s Diana’s mom and her two aunts who make our warrior princess into the 5,000 years-old badass fighter we’ll meet in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before she headlines her first solo movie alongside Chris Pine as her long-time love interest, Steve Trevor. It’s is the first live-action film to feature both Batman and Superman, as well as the first theatrical film to feature live-action portrayals of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash.

In “Dawn of Justice’s” climactic battle scene, Gadot’s Wonder Woman – amind the destruction and darkness – flashes a smile while fighting. Along with the interview came an epic photo depicting Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot, ) Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), General Antiope (Robin Wright), and Lieutenant Menalippe (Lisa Loven Kongsli) on the shores of Themyscira, their mystical island hidden away from the world of men.

Cavill agrees, adding: “Gal cuts a fine figure as Wonder Woman”. “I didn’t want to make a movie where the guys were the heroes and the women were the damsels in distress”, Affleck told E! “I studied her a lot, and I educated myself about her, and love everything she stands for – love, truth, justice and compassion”.

The movie is not merely targeting a female audience: “For me, as a woman, getting her story right [is] more for the young girls”, says Snyder.

Unlike Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman will be the hero’s origin story, taking place in the distant past. “I think for men to see such a strong, powerful woman is a really great thing, too”. “I was thinking about whether I should wait to have children maybe later when my acting career was more settled, but then I thought that if you’re more successful, you’re working even more, so that wouldn’t be the best time either”.

“Same night, Zack called me and said ‘Well, I’m not sure if you have it in Israel but did you ever hear about Wonder Woman?'”. Given that, it’s crafty timing on Warner Bros.’ part to release a still this morning giving fans a pretty clear look at Wonder Woman alongside some of the bad-ass ladies who raised her. When we see her again in her standalone film next year, though, she’ll be a long way from 2016.

Watching Gadot explode onto the screen with such energy, with such determination and strength, I erupted into applause myself.
