The social media is loaded with commentary on the “too small” size of the phone and iPhone SE jokes. However, the Rs 39,000 price point propels the iPhone SE into the high-end smartphone league and nearly at par with the iPhone 6S.

Some of the major mobile phone networks and retailers, such as EE and Carphone Warehouse, have already confirmed they’ll offer the new iPhone SE, but contract prices have yet to be announced.
After Apple announced that it would launch the new iPhone SE in India early April, Redington and Beetel Teletech – Apple’s distributors in India – in seperate press notes revealed the India launch date for the new iPhone. Apple will be launching two variants of the iPhone SE in India – 16GB and 64GB. “The result is the most attractive and powerful phone with a four-inch display in the world”, said Philip Schiller, senior vice president for worldwide marketing at Apple. While, it is priced at Rs 23,000, lower than iPhone 6S during the launch, the pricing is above the Street estimates – between Rs 27,000 and Rs 32,000.
Featuring the same aluminium design as the iPhone 6s, the device comes in four metallic finishes, including rose gold.

Wi-Fi access is also three-times faster and LTE is 50pc faster than the iPhone 5s.
The new iPhone SE boasts a smaller, 4-inch screen, a 12-megapixel camera and a faster processor. The iPad Pro draws its power from the A9X chip and it does support Apple Pencil.

The iPhone SE will also have a 12-megapixel iSight camera, capable of shooting 4K video and taking live photos. With a starting price of $399, the phone is $250 less than the starting price of its flagship iPhone 6s.
