Altman backs Canada’s Dillon Brooks after late-game drama with Coach K

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said something to Oregon’s Dillon Brooks after the Ducks’ victory on Thursday night.

OR put together one of its most impressive performances of the tournament so far, but a late 3-pointer by star Dillon Brooks may have contributed to some displeasure in the team’s relations with Duke.

Rude. When someone whomps you by 14 points, the right thing to do is shake their hand and say, “Good game”.

OR now prepares for their Elite Eight showdown with the Oklahoma Sooners in the West Regional final on Saturday. The Final Four is on the line and OR is three wins from a National Championship.

When Duke’s season ended, Ingram was asked about his future plans. “He embraced it. He was a great player, and he knew that he was a great person”.

“They were the better team, that was pretty obvious”, Krzyzewski said. David Robinson, whose son Justin plays for Duke, was at the game and shown on the video board….

“The top recruit in the country is coming off his second torn ACL, but he is everything you could possibly want in a big man. He’s an athletic freak at 6’10” who has a wide array of post moves and a reliable mid-range jumper.

“They’re so hard. You get past them laterally, and then you have to deal with them vertically”.

Brooks said he spoke with Altman “about this whole situation” and added, “Me and Coach K, that conversation should have stayed with us”. We knew they were bound to get exhausted. Duke, meanwhile, is one of the pillar of college basketball and the reigning national champions.

“I told Dillon to shoot it. So if anybody’s got a problem with it, it should be directed at me”, Altman said. On Thursday night, OR used its quickness and talent to bounce the fourth-seeded Blue Devils from the West Regional for the sixth time.

“It’s like separating a family, at the end of the day, just because of how close we’ve become”, sophomore guard Allen said.

While Brooks probably didn’t have to either attempt that last 3-pointer or celebrate as vociferously after he hit it, he deserves some benefit of the doubt under the circumstances.

Because calling this “an incident” is making too much out of something that really was nothing.

“I think being able to control those emotions but still have those emotions is what makes Dillon Brooks Dillon Brooks, ” McIntyre said. “I said, ‘You’re a terrific player.’ You can take whatever he said and go with it”.

“I think we don’t have a history of being a basketball school, but I think we did some great things this year to prove we deserve it”, said Jordan Bell, who had 13 points and seven rebounds. The Blue Devils lost five of their final 10 games. “And he’s right. I’ve got to respect Duke”, Brooks said, per Josh Peter of USA Today.

Plumlee, the Duke center, had two fouls in the first five minutes and wound up with six points and five rebounds. Everyone can shoot, but on the Defensive end, Chris Boucher and Jordan Bell are the guys on the inside that can really make a difference (See Bell vs Duke).
