Meanwhile, the condition of 40-year-old crew member Nidhi Chaphekar who was injured along with her junior colleague Amit Motwani during the two explosions at the Brussels airport is said to be stable.
A source close to her family confirmed that she is now in hospital recovering from her injuries. “We look forward to welcome them home soon”, the airline posted on Twitter on Wednesday.
Ketevan Kardava, 36, a special correspondent in Brussels of Georgian Public Broadcaster, remembers the moment she saw Chaphekar. “She is resting and under sedation for her comfort”.
Mini Chhawana, who was received by her uncle and father, recalled the nightmare: “I was stranded at Brussels airport for a long time as I had a layover there for I was coming from NY”. “Everything was dust and smoke”. I couldn’t believe I still had my legs.
“I was in shock”.
Now, Kardava says her view of the world has changed. As a journalist, it was my duty to take these photos and show the world what was going on. “The first reaction was ‘she’s alive”. She said she doesn’t know how she will carry on with her career as a photojournalist. “There was no crying, no shooting”.
The flight landed at the Indira Gandhi airport here at around 5:30, a Jet Airways spokesperson said.
Two cabin crew members of the Jet Airways, including an Indian was injured in the attack in Brussels. Our staff have been positioned in all these locations to support the guests and co-ordinate with local authorities.
Issued by the Indian Embassy in Brussels, it also asked Indian nationals to share the personal whereabouts with close family members and friends at all times and keep in touch with the mission for necessary advice. “We are coordinating with @jetairways on alternate plans to evacuate our citizens”, she said in another tweet. “All they told us was she is safe”.
