RCMP say body of Chase Martens, 2, has been found

Two-year-old Chase Martens body has been located by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba.

The death appears to have been accidental, they said.

The search for two-year-old Chase Martens continues Saturday in the Austin, Man., area. On Tuesday, his mother said the child seemed to vanish in seconds from outside his home. There will be an autopsy.

“The true, genuine care and concern of Manitobans is something that should be recognized and commended”, he said.

“Everybody that had something they could offer, they stepped forward”.

He added that the creek had been considered a “high probability area” and was revisited several times as water levels and conditions changed.

Following his disappearance, an estimated 30,000 hours were put in by hundreds of volunteers combing a four-kilometre wide search area consisting of creeks, fields, thick brush and farmland. “We feel for the parents”, said Favel.

Paquet said the searchers kept hoping for the boy’s survival, but knew the odds were challenging after the first few nights.

On Saturday, Paquet thanked volunteers for their help in the search.

The search has ended for Chase MARTENS.
