Alleged Nintendo NX Controller Images Leak, and People Aren’t Impressed

A Reddit user posted the images, as well as some details about the controller itself.

Supposedly, the rollers at the top feel like the scroll wheel on a mouse, the analog sticks move along the bottom “sphere”, and it has haptic feedback similar to Apple’s “taptic” engine. This friend is “a public figure who I will not name, but does know all about NX (I won’t be asking them about it though)”.

It is deduced that Nintendo is employing Sharp’s free-form LCD display technology on the new controller. As with Nintendo’s patent filing, the photos clearly show two nubs, one on each end of the controller’s face.

There’s been lots of speculation about Nintendo’s next generation gaming console, which will reportedly be called the NX.

The alleged images appeared on Reddit today, apparently matching patent filings from Nintendo which were discovered earlier in 2016. The only real difference is that the controller in the patents had handles for your hands to grip while the controller in these pictures does not, which seems like an ergonomic nightmare. Technobuffalo even went as far as to say that they were also convinced that the photoshopper of the image had included a picture of ET (the alien from the movie “E.T. the Extra-terrestrial”) as well. Though I am pretty positive it would not have worked as an actual controller for the Nintendo NX let alone some other console. I can’t wait to see what Nintendo has to offer. Additionally, it is still a dev-kit version, so changes in the design are still possible. It turns out they were based on the first leaked photo – apparently learning from the last mistake of people pegging that one as fake due to the “image” in the screen.

The rumour that thsi is a screen makes it seem like an evolutionary step on from the Wii U, which allowed players to engage with titles without having to use the TV.
