Donald Trump wants punishment for abortion
That comment created a firestorm, causing Trump to later clarify his position that, if abortion became illegal in the usa, “the doctor or person performing the act upon a woman” would be held liable, not the woman.

Donald Trump is advocating abortion ban and said that women should be punished if taking illegal means of abortion. “My position has not changed – like Ronald Reagan, I am pro-life with exceptions”, Trump said in his subsequent statement.
“There has to be some form of punishment”, the billionaire reality television star said in excerpts of an interview which were to be broadcast later Wednesday, after MSNBC’s Chris Matthews asked: “Do you believe in punishment for abortion, yes or no?”
Trump’s remarks were assailed by abortion-rights supporters, but they also unsettled anti-abortion activists who said the comments clash with efforts to show empathy with women contemplating whether to have the procedure.
Trump’s rivals fired back, shooting down his comments about women being punished for abortions.
In his “Closer Look” segment on Thursday’s episode of NBC’s “Late Night”, Meyers recapped the controversial statements made by Trump, whom he jokes has put “literally no thought into this issue”.
‘At this moment the laws are set and I think we have to leave it that way, ‘ he said.
MSNBC’s Chuck Todd asked Kasich just how he could implement a ban on abortion.
“I think probably Donald Trump will figure out a way to say that he didn’t say it or he was misquoted or whatever but…” “Yes”, Trump said. “There has to be some form”.
Later in the interview, Mr Trump said he did not disagree with the proposition that abortion is murder.
US Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, the third candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, earlier this year released an ad saying voters could not trust Trump because he has not always opposed abortion.
She further stated that the GOP candidate’s statements came at a time “when you thought it couldn’t get worse”. President Barack Obama has nominated a replacement whom Senate Republicans say they won’t consider because of the impending national vote.
And now they say, “Well, it should punish the provider who does the abortion, not the woman who is having it”, which sounds more reasonable.

He said his comments were made in reply to a “hypothetical” question and told host John Dickerson he remained pro-life.
