Man detained after guns, explosives found in car near church

White Water Missionary Baptist Church in Troy will celebrate the annual Youth Conference/Youth Day on April 15-17.

– Pine Grove AME Church Class No. 1 will have Yard Sale, 7 a.m.-noon April 16, at American Legion Post 224, (The Hut) East Cambridge Avenue.

Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, 2215 E. Harding Ave., will host a gospel explosion at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 10. Pastor Chad will bring the message from God’s Word.

– Mount Lebanon AME Church, 150 Mount Lebanon Road, Due West, Lay Day Worship Service begins 11 a.m. Sunday. The district rehearsal will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 11. A midweek acoustic worship service will debut at 6 p.m. April 13, with contemporary Christian music and an informal style. Meteorologist Kevin Selle will be the speaker for the Christian Men’s Fellowship dinner at 6:30 p.m. April 21.

Macedonia Baptist Church, 5064 Macedonia Church Road, presents Tribute Quartet in concert April 23 at 7 p.m. A love offering will be received. Those planning to attend are asked to sign up in the church office or on the website. Faiths participating will be Baha’i, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints (Mormon), Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Religious Society of Friends (Quaker), Unitarian Universalism, and Zoroastrianism. Brunch and lunch will be served.

The church was not open at the time, and the vehicle is no longer at the church. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Larry C. Battles, pastor of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.

Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will have men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10. GLOW women’s Bible study will meet at 4 p.m. April 10.

A 14-year-old student is in custody after police say he brought a loaded gun, more than 100 rounds of ammunition, extra magazine and a mask to school on Thursday. Post-confirmation youth will take a trip to an art museum April 16. It was founded in 1882 and today it has more than 10,000 members. Cost is by donation. The sale will take place April 16 at 11 a.m.at Midway Beauty Shop in Bladenboro. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for ages 4 to 18. The speakers will be: 3 p.m. April 17, Elder Antwan Clemons of Bethlehem Holiness Church; 7 p.m. April 18, Pastor Maurice Maxwell of Buncombe Baptist Church; 7 p.m. April 19, Bishop Tavaris Johnson of Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church. The finance committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 12.
