Trip to Cuba Could Pay off for Central Illinois

Chima says while the vacation may not be for everyone the country is expected to rapidly develop its tourism industry with new resorts and hotels being built.

Wednesday, Obama met with the President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri. The US lies but a few miles north of the island, and American music and sport are influential; young Cubans are poised to take advantage of the end of the sanctions that Mr Obama has promised. “This includes returning all known fugitives to the United States”.

Chesky concurred, and said that while the Cuba partnership has been “fairly seamless”, the “biggest challenge I think was Internet connectivity”.

How can we, the United States, lecture the Cuban government and the Cuban people about human rights violations and political prisoners when the human rights of scores of Americans are snuffed out in fatal encounters with police. “They can not defeat America”.

Along with the legislation, Bustos said Vilsack signed a memorandum of understanding to provide check-off funds to pay for research and marketing efforts of American agriculture. The lesson of history has been that when former Communist leaders pass into the sunset, the desire of the vast majority of their people for freedom will overwhelm those who wish to maintain the status quo. “The Castros are still in power”.

After all this time, Moulton said, it’s clear the embargo isn’t effective.

Prior to Obama’s visit, Amnesty International placed itself in the paradoxical position of calling for an end to the embargo against Cuba while calling for greater scrutiny and dialogue over human rights abuses.

As productive as the trip was, it was not without its hiccups.

Obama starred in another sketch with the comedian earlier this week ahead of the 48-hour visit to Havana, which ended on Tuesday. The very next day, Moulton made headlines for a different political reason – he publicly compared current GOP front runner nominee Donald Trump’s rise in popularity to the rise of Hitler, incurring the wrath of Trump’s supporters.

Addressing his comments, Moulton said, “This is not about Hitler”.

Even as terror attacks rattled Brussels and much of the West, Obama only briefly digressed from his prepared remarks to address the violence.

“We are way ahead of the game as far as building relationships”, said Mark Albertson, director of strategic market development for the Bloomington-based Illinois Soybean Association. “In fact it gave me a little more popularity”. “When I was in college, I would read Borges or Cortazar, these people, and they were drinking mate and I didn’t know what this was”.

“But it resonated with the Cuban people, and whenever I went out around Havanna, the people were lining up to take pictures, they wanted to shake our hands to thank us”, said Moulton. Cuba might come to adopt a Chinastyle model: a relatively free economy with one-party monopoly on governance.
