Jungle Book director gives the movie a ‘girl power’ makeover
Directed by John Favreau, Disney’s The Jungle Book swings into threaters on April 15, 2016.

Also starring the voices of Scarlett Johansson as Kaa the python and Bill Murray as Baloo, “The Jungle Book” has opened to critical acclaim and rolls out in theatres worldwide this month.
Twelve-year-old New Yorker Sethi was cast as Mowgli after an audition of 2,000 hopefuls.
Lupita Nyong’o continued her streak of looking absolutely fantastic all the time at the premiere of Disney’s The Jungle Book on Monday.
Overall, Favreau said he was happy with the animation technology he was able to work with for the film in order to produce the final product.
Jon Favreaus The Jungle Book is a cinematic wonder that deserves to be seen in a movie theater, but like Kenneth Branaghs Cinderella, it possesses the same problem: weve already seen this story before. Decades after more and more people are still drawn to the story of Mowgli, the Rudyard Kipling-created character raised by wolves in the jungle. We looked at the archival drawings of The Jungle Book as well as the new imagery and our tiger.
And for the fanatics who love to compare, they still have the song “The Bare Necessities” with the amusing and “take it easy” bear Baloo, which I am sure its exclusion would leave an uproar. “Favreau’s film is a honest and full-hearted adaptation that returns to Kipling for fresh inspiration, but also knows which elements of the animation are basically now gospel, and comes up with a respectful reconciliation of the two”.
“And then we changed Kaa the snake to be Scarlett Johansson who has an incredibly warm, wonderful, compelling, dramatic voice, and I think it helped balance it out and feel more of our time”.

Among those monitoring reaction to the film will be Warner Brothers, which is releasing its own remake, Jungle Book: Origins, next year, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett.
