Ex-Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith arrested on DUI charge

Cpl. Greg Franey tells The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/25Ehp2W ) that Smith was pulled over at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Former NFL & Ohio State QB Troy Smith started off his conversation with the police with: “I’m Officer…” Smith failed a field sobriety test and police arrested him, according to the report. He had a blood-alcohol level of.143, well above Ohio’s legal limit of.08.

The officer went on to search Smith’s vehicle and found two “rolled cigars containing marijuana” in a glass jar in the center console.

Smith played for the Ravens and was listed as a quarterback.

Smith was pulled over for missing his front license plate and weaving, according to the arresting officer.

As a senior at Ohio State, Smith led the Buckeyes to a 12-1 record and a spot in the BCS Championship Game, where they lost to Florida.

Amid more questions, Smith said that he graduated from Ohio State University “with a degree in bachelors”. She was following Smith in her vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. He played three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and one with the San Francisco 49ers in 2010. The Alouettes then unconditionally released him from his contract on October 2014.
