Clinton, Sanders vie to be anti-Trump candidate
After some sniping between the two campaigns, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have finally agreed on a date for the Democratic primary date in NY.

Ted Cruz aims to use Wisconsin’s presidential primary to extend Donald Trump’s recent rough stretch on the campaign trail.
Jane Sanders, Bernie’s wife and an influential adviser, admitted that starting earlier in 2015 would have helped enormously: “We didn’t run all over the nation previous year”.
The Democratic National Committee has sanctioned the CNN-NY1 debate.
CNN has won the hot race to land the Democratic debate in NY, which will happen in Brooklyn on April 14, five days before the NY state primary.
Both Clinton and her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders are both focusing more time and energy on NY. By being more organized and diligent, the Vermont senator hopes to shrink Clinton’s lead.
According to Democrats close to Hillary and former President Bill Clinton, both are frustrated by Sanders’ ability to cast himself as above politics-as-usual even while firing off what they consider to be misleading attacks.
Sanders rejected it because he had a big rally in Milwaukee on Monday night in advance of Tuesday’s Wisconsin primary. “I’m sick of it”, she said, jabbing her finger at the young woman who approached her as she shook hands along a rope line at an event in NY.
Since the last debate between the two Democrats, on March 8 in Miami, the race has taken a more combative tone, with Sanders working hard to try and play catch-up, and Clinton working to secure the party’s nomination against a unexpectedly formidable, and well-funded, opponent.
The latest back-and-forth over the Democratic debate schedule began last week when Sanders called for the Clinton campaign to accept a debate in Brooklyn.
“Of course she is anxious”, Sanders said.
Because the Democrats award delegates on a proportional basis, Sanders doesn’t just need to win in places like Wisconsin or NY or California – he needs to win by significant margins.
Sanders responded to this critique on ABC News’ This Week on Sunday by arguing that the fact he’s an Independent is a strength in a general election campaign, because he can bring independents into the party.
After the hashtags #tonedownforwhat and #whichhillary started to trend, people shared the video of her proclaiming her readiness to debate at any moment. Clinton and Sanders don’t spend hours trading insults.

-What they’re saying: Clinton pollster Joel Benenson says the senator will be mathematically eliminated in three weeks. “Don’t tell her this, but if we win here and we win in NY, I think we’re on our way to the White House”.
