Rockies’ Story becomes 1st player to homer in 1st 4 games
The Rockies rookie shortstop has exploded on to the Major League scene, hitting his 5th and 6th home runs in Colorado’s fourth game of the 2016 season, a 13-6 loss to the Padres on Friday.

He has hit six home runs in his first nineteen at-bats in the Major Leagues. Jordan Lyles will pitch for the Rockies, and Colin Rea will get his first start of the season, making a relief appearance earlier in the year – allowing a run over one inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 4.
Story made history on Wednesday by hitting his fourth home run of the season in his third game to become the first player in major league history to accomplish the feat.
Rather, the Rockies’ tale of woe continues to be poor pitching, something on full display Friday afternoon in their home opener against San Diego in front of a sellout crowd of 49,360 at Coors Field.
ATLANTA – St. Louis clubbed three pinch-hit homers, including the go-ahead shot from Alydmys Diaz in the eighth inning, to overcome a four-run deficit and defeat Atlanta at Turner Field.
His 411-foot drive down the left field line was a no-doubter, though. Kemp went 4-for-6 with four RBIs. The 32-year-old ace gave up seven runs in four innings in his Diamondbacks debut Monday.
“I’ve never seen anything like that, let alone a rookie”, manager Walt Weiss said.
The Padres (1-3) trailed 2-0 in the top of the fourth inning, running the scoreless inning streak to 30.
” I would just kind of describe it as surreal, those first couple games I felt like I was in a dream and then coming back here it’s just so fun to play in front of our fans”.
NEW YORK (AP) – Jacob deGrom maintained his focus on the mound with a baby on the way, and New York got big hits from Neil Walker and Michael Conforto to beat Philadelphia in its home opener. The Rockies smashed 10 homers in taking two of three in Arizona – tying a club record for most long balls in a three-game road series – and scored 20 runs after leading the National League with 737 last season. “It’s a really cool story, Story”.
Story also had an RBI single in the second.
Story led off the ninth with his sixth homer, deep into the mostly empty left field bleachers off a full-count pitch from lefty Ryan Buchter. He was tagged for five runs and seven hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Detroit has won three in a row to start the season. The Padres also will have to make a move once LHP Brad Hand reports to the team.
Toronto right-hander Marcus Stroman allowed six hits, three walks and five runs in 5 1/3 innings.
Matt Kemp has given De La Rosa fits over his career, hitting.
