Kasich’s NY target: The senator from Texas

“Sen. Ted Cruz is the only candidate who is actually opening campaign offices, who is working with activists at the grassroots level and has quietly been putting together a strategic campaign for tactical strike here in NY”, said Jason McGuire of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms.

“Look, I have never been popular with left-wing journalists or tabloids, and frankly that’s not my target audience” Cruz told CNN Thursday.

Cruz had been scheduled to speak at a Bronx high school Thursday, but the principal canceled the event after students threatened to walk out in protest of his stance on immigration, according to the New York Daily News. And, best of all, “New York values” wasn’t even mentioned once. And I have to tell you, that was a very insulting statement that Ted made.

Ted Cruz has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to the NY presidential primary.

Polls show Donald Trump, the GOP front-runner, with a dominant lead over his rivals in NY. New York is the most-Jewish state in the United States, thanks the New York City, the most Jewish city. You had two 110-story buildings come crashing down, I saw them come down, thousands of people killed, and the cleanup started the next day, and it was the most horrific cleanup, probably in the history of doing this, and in construction, I was down there.

“They’re the values of liberal Democratic politicians like Andrew Cuomo, like Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer, like Charlie Rangel”, Cruz said, “all of whom Donald Trump has supported, given tens of thousands of dollars throughout the years”. Kasich is hoping to pick up delegates in congressional districts across the state that will help him in a contested convention.

Hayworth also said that some of Cruz’s policy positions, including his votes against Hurricane Sandy relief and compensation for 9/11 victims, “will sit very poorly with New Yorkers”.

Earlier on Thursday, before the interview, Cruz visited the Chabad Neshama Model Matzah Bakery in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn where he was making matzo. “That’s always going to be a part of his base”, Nojay said.

NY holds its state primary on April 19, and Cruz needs to catch up with Trump in terms of delegates needed to secure the party’s presidential nomination.
