Microsoft bringing your Android smartphone notifications to your Windows 10 PC

One such announcement is that of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which will introduce new features and make improvements to the operating system.

A few days ago, Microsoft revealed that the upcoming Windows 10 Anniversary Update would support notification mirroring for Android devices.

The Notification Center in Windows 10 is a great idea but, many would argue, one that is both limited and poorly implemented.

You’ll also be able to get mobile notifications from your Android device on-screen, using a PC. But it is nearly certainly notification mirroring that will generate the most interest.

Users will, for example, be able to see missed calls and even dismiss incoming notifications if they’re unprepared to deal with them or willing interrupt their flow by picking up the phone. Windows developers will still need to format their apps for the console, and Microsoft hasn’t indicated that all purchases will carry over between the Windows Store and Xbox.

And finally, the last segment of this huge SDK are tools for bringing apps and games from other platforms to Windows 10.

Microsoft plans to take the Action Center on Windows 10 a step further with the Anniversary update (earlier known as Redstone update). Instead, iOS and Android were name dropped more than Microsoft’s own platform.

With all these additions and new features that Microsoft announced yesterday, developers will have a handful of work if they want their apps to stay competitive, because with all these options, the range of possibilities is huge.

All-in-all it seems like a pretty smart move from Microsoft as it seeks to build out the appeal of Windows 10 in the mobile focused landscape.
