The top performances from the American Idol finale

One such man was William Hung.

The first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, had to record a medley of her greatest hits as she is about to give birth to her second child.

After a disastrous (but fondly remembered, at least by him) pop career, Hung decided to make his living in law enforcement.

Harmon and La’Porsha Renae advanced after April 6’s episode, finalising their spot in the series finale.

Also, following the first half of American Idol’s series finale, Urban said, “I wrote this song… called ‘The Fighter.’ I would say it’s a call-and-response song between a guy and a girl, and Carrie’s on that song with me”. Photos: AFP Justin Guarini and Jordin Sparks doing a duet.

Season 4 victor, Carrie Underwood, performed “Something in the Water”.

Keith Urban has confirmed that his upcoming album RipCORD will feature a collaboration with Carrie Underwood.

The long-running singing competition ended its run last night after 15 years on the air.

“You’ve done an fantastic job hosting this show all these years”, Dunkleman followed up. In the case of “Idol”, that flickering can be directly traced to the departure of judge Simon Cowell, who announced his plans in 2010, even if it took a while for the damage from his exit to fully manifest itself.

ET’s Sophie Schillaci caught up with Seacrest and former judges Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul after the emotional show, where they talked about Cowell’s appearance. “The next generation of Idol – and Idol will certainly be coming back for sure – will have a youthful glow and it will be pioneering again, just as it was when we first began”. Seacrest recently tweeted, “Just trying to get my emotions in check this week before #IdolFinale”. If she’s managed to fit in work on a new album at the same time as all of that, I’d be surprised and ridiculously impressed.

“If I come over as harsh at times, it’s only because I’m being real”.

Clarkson performed a medley of all her hit songs including “Miss Independent”, “Breakaway”, “Since U Been Gone”, “Because Of You”, “Behind These Hazel eyes”, “My Life Would Suck Without You”, “Don’t You Wanna Stay”, “Stronger”, “Heartbeat Song”, and “Invincible”. “That’s just the way it is”.
