Nagorno-Karabakh truce in trouble as Russia, Iran join talks
An Israeli-produced suicide drone was captured flying over the disputed area of Nagorno-Karabakh, the site of clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, a video appears to show.

BAKU, Azerbaijan (AP) – Azerbaijan and Armenia on Thursday accused each other of violating a two-day-old cease-fire in Nagorno-Karabakh, while Russian Federation and Iran joined diplomatic efforts to prevent a war that could destabilize the strategic Caucasus region.
Karabakh’s Armenian-backed Defense Army said on Wednesday morning that the ceasefire largely held overnight.
Belarus is ready to provide necessary assistance in the search for a peaceful settlement to the Nagorny Karabakh conflict, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told BelTA.
Turkish President Recep Erdogan on Wednesday accused Russian Federation of siding with Armenia in the conflict with Azerbaijan over the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh, saying the meddling was similar to Moscow’s actions in Ukraine and Syria, Agence France-Presse reported.
The spiralling violence over the Armenian-controlled enclave in Azerbaijan sparked worldwide alarm amid the largest loss of life since a Russian-brokered truce 22 years ago. Medvedev is due to proceed to Baku later in the week.
“Fighting in what was a dormant conflict for two decades flared up over the weekend with a boy and at least 30 troops killed on both sides”, notes AP.
According to some diplomats, who were quoted stating for the German news agency: “A group of Russian, French and USA diplomats, who co-chair an Organization for Security and Co-operation mediation group set on resolving the long-standing conflict, travelled to Nagorno-Karabakh on Tuesday, following consultations at OSCE headquarters in Vienna”.
Amid the fighting, Karabakh’s military command already has threatened to target Azerbaijan’s energy pipelines with short-range ballistic missiles if the country’s forces launch artillery barrage against the region’s central city, Stepanakert, and other populated areas.
It’s obvious why it happened: it is disadvantageous for Yerevan to change the status quo of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which assumes continuation of the occupation policy before the whole world community.
The mayor also said that about 50 men from Talish have volunteered to defend the village alongside soldiers.
In this frame grab made from a video provided by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry press service, Monday, April 4, 2016, an Armenian tank which the Azerbaijani forces say they destroyed is on fire in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijani troops are now reinforcing the liberated territories”, Baku’s defence military said in its statement.
