Donald Trump turns up the heat ahead of tight Wisconsin race

“What I said was so good, it was so flawless, and then they look, they say, ‘Oh, maybe he should’ve added a word.’ Well actually the way it came out, they took words out that I said”, Trump told supporters at his Saturday rally in Racine, Wisconsin.

Afterwards, Trump tweeted: “Just had a very nice meeting with @Reince Priebus and the @GOP”.

After a week long break from caucuses and primaries, on Tuesday voters in Wisconsin will head to the polls for both Democratic and Republican contests. She said he is the only candidate who understands that “common sense is an endangered species in Washington”.

If Cruz can sweep the delegates available in Wisconsin, Trump would have to win 57% of the remaining GOP delegates to collect the needed 1,237 to clinch the nomination.

A disagreement over Tennessee’s delegate appointments ahead of the Republican National Convention triggered protests from Trump supporters.

Wisconsin holds its primary on Tuesday – it’s a key state with 42 delegates at stake on the GOP side.

Other than in Wisconsin where polls show him trailing Cruz by 10 percentage points, Trump has performed best among primary voters in traditionally Democratic-leaning states.

Trump insisted his controversial comments to MSNBC host Chris Matthews – in which he said there should be “some form of punishment” for women who get abortions if the procedure was outlawed – was in response to a hypothetical question. “A woman like [Heidi Cruz] should not be insulted”. Politico reports that Trump seriously risks delegate flight if he fails to win the nomination outright, suggesting that many of his pledged delegates are voting for him against their will.

The anti-Trump forces have been working to stop the billionaire businessman in Wisconsin, a state that will help determine whether he can emerge from the primaries with enough delegates to avoid a contested convention. Super PACs and rival campaigns have been able to focus narrowly on Wisconsin for almost two weeks.

Kasich hasn’t accumulated a ton of delegates in the Republican sweepstakes, but he is one of three candidates still standing.

“That’s a lot of hot air from the Cruz campaign”, said U.S. Rep. Charle Dent, R-Lehigh.

The 69-year-old Trump – who has been a Democrat, a political independent and is only a recent convert to the “pro-life” anti-abortion position – has been accused of flip-flopping on the issue.
