Mr. Badal congratulated DGP Sumedh Singh Saini for the well calibrated action, adding the hard work and planning involved in establishing the State’s SWAT team had borne fruit. But militancy is a national problem; it is not a state problem.

“The terrorists didn’t come from Punjab, they came from the border”. It was always a national problem.
Terming it as a attack on the nation, Mr. Badal said that these terrorists have attacked India, who have crossed the border for this heinous crime.
It is very sad and such an incident has occurred here after so many years.
“We in Punjab will give them a proper reply and we will choose our own methods”.

The chief minister earlier said he was taking stock of the situation every 15 minutes despite being unwell. “If there was an input then it was their (Centre’s) job to seal the border.”, Badal said. It is about 235 km from Chandigarh.
