Updates: RCMP officer killed in early morning crash
Photos on social media show the driver’s side of the marked police cruiser completely crushed in. Ray Bernoties of the Island District RCMP in a press conference just hours after the constable’s death. Paramedics tried to revive her, but she was later pronounced dead.

It happened in Langford, near Victoria, at Goldstream and Peatt Roads. “There will be tough days ahead”.
It happened around 3:30 a.m.in Langford.
A criminal investigation continues into the crash that killed the young mother.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and was taken into police custody.
She was a great police officer, truly dedicated to serving others. The Saanich Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Esquimalt-Royal Roads MLA Maurine Karagianis, her voice breaking with emotion, also expressed her condolences in the Legislature on behalf of the NDP.
The fundraising campaign was started by three local vehicle clubs, and they say they’ll hand over all the money raised to the West Shore RCMP detachment to give to Beckett’s family. Her loss is shared by her extended RCMP family and by the citizens throughout the communities where she served and across Canada.
