Star Ocean 5 for July European release

A staggering 20 years since the first Star Ocean game released on the Super Famicom, the fifth entry in the series, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness finally has an official release date in the west. Having released in Japan just last week, the Sci-Fi JRPG will hit North American shelves June 28 and European shelves July 1, exclusively for PS4.

Producer Shuichi Kobayashi said “the franchise has always featured exhilarating action battles and with the new game, we deliver an evolved combat system which can involve a party of up to seven characters and it is easier to execute combo attacks”. Along with the physical goodies, those who purchase this edition will also receive exclusive in-game DLC: six background battle themes playable in-game during battle, and a download code for several in-game items that will help the player on his or her adventure. We would really like to get your support so that we can continue to tell more “tales of the sea of stars”.

The characters were designed by “akiman” (Street Fighter series).

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness was released in Japan on March 31st. Look at that hair. While I’m not sure the video game industry has anything close to a “Summer Blockbuster Season”, the new Story Trailer embedded above gives us a closer look into the lives of Fidel and his crew. Despite its placement in the series chronology, Square Enix marketing lead Francis Santos has assured fans that you don’t have to play the previous games to enjoy the story in Integrity and Faithlessness.

It has been confirmed that those residing in North America will be able to pick up Star Ocean 5 starting June 28 2016. These links leave Siliconera.
