Even Jack Nicklaus has trouble with Masters security

The 2016 Masters, where history is rooted in every azalea and pine, celebrates this week the 30 anniversary of Jack Nicklaus’ final and perhaps greatest major championship.

When you win six Masters title, Augusta National essentially becomes your playground. Be forewarned: security is tight.

As Nicklaus hands him his badge, the security guard realizes who’s in the auto.

Watch Nicklaus arrive at the course on Tuesday in this video released on his Facebook page.

That security is obviously amped up during Masters week with guards lining Magnolia Lane.

“They got a little booth up there with the part-time security guard people who will want to know who you are”, he said.

The first set of guards are in awe of Nicklaus, and one police officer arguably overstays his welcome with the six-time Masters champ, talking about a barbecue dinner that may or may not happen.

“I’m gettin’ old, it’s okay”, Nicklaus joked back. Nicklaus is also the PGA Tour’s all-time record holder for most Majors won at 18.

The guard at the second checkpoint forces Nicklaus to produce his badge for scanning purposes. “I think one of my kids, it was in the golf room, and one of the kids said, ‘Oh, dad doesn’t use this anymore, you can have this'”.
