“Remembering Babu Jagjivan Ramji on his birth anniversary”. Vice President of India, Mohammad Hamid Ansari led the nation in paying tributes to the veteran leader who was fondly called as Babu ji.
“As Agriculture Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram did a lot to usher the green revolution. I am proud that today’s programme has some association with his birth anniversary”, Modi said while launching the “Stand Up India” initiative to promote financial inclusion.
Apparently eyeing the Dalit vote bank ahead of the next Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday invoked Dalit leader Jagjivan Ram.
“The “remain true India” program seeks to encourage every Indian and help them to remain by themselves feet”, he said.
He asked the Dalits and tribals to become “job-givers” instead of “job-seekers” as he launched the “Stand Up India” Scheme, at Noida in the state.
PM Modi also distributed 5,100 e-Rickshaws to the poor and needy people.
