Defamation case: Arvind Kejriwal, 5 other AAP leaders get bail
Kejriwal and other accused had appeared in court in pursuance to the summons issued against them on 9 March. Directing the six accused to furnish a bail bond of Rs 20,000 each and a surety of the same amount, the court said, “Offence being bailable all accused person are admitted to bail”.

Delhi’s food and supplies minister Imran Hussain stood surety for Ashutosh, Uttam Nagar legislator Naresh Balyan for Sanjay Singh, Laxmi Nagar MLA Nitin Tyagi for Kumar Vishwas, Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha for Mr Chadha and Mehrauli MLA Naresh Yadav stood surety for Mr Bajpayee.
Kejriwal accompanied by his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) colleagues Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai before Chief metropolitan magistrate Sumit Dass.
During the hearing, Kejriwal’s lawyer R K Wadhwa told the court that they had not been supplied with relevant documents. Kejriwal had in January replied to the defamation suit, in a 2000- page reply before the Delhi High Court.
Arvind Kejriwal, who routed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi state elections previous year, accused Jaitley in December of allowing fraud at a cricket association he ran from 2003 to 2013. Taneja added that the court has fixed May 19 as the date for hearing on argument on framing of charges against them. Jaitley was also present in the court room.
Before the hearing started, both BJP and AAP workers shouted slogans against each other. “Action should be initiated against him (Kejriwal) for misleading people and spending public money for spreading lies”, the complainant said.

The Union minister had alleged that Kejriwal and the five AAP leaders had made defamatory statements against him and his family.
