Lauding the performance of the Gogoi government, the Congress president asked, “What have they done for small businessmen?”

She will campaign in Assam’s Barpeta district ahead of the second phase of assembly polls in the state.

She also accused the ruling dispensation of favouring big businessmen and corporate.

Gandhi also said that the BJP had no faith in the Constitution or democracy as was evident from “their plan to destabilise the Congress government of Assam and removal democratically elected governments in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand”. The Congress’ concern is the people of the country. I work for all, irrespective of caste, creed and religion. Mr Gogoi told news agency PTI.

Here is Himanta Biswa Sarma of the BJP campaigning deep in the rural areas of Jagi Road. Shah added if his party won, they would find a permanent solution to this issue.

Mr Gogoi reminded that his government initiated the National Register of Citizens (NRC) process in the state to separate foreigners from Indians. It was Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his ministers who worked hard to bring peace, development and progress in the State.

Infiltration has been a major poll plank in all Assam polls for the past four decades and the Assembly election this year is no exception.
