Steve Kerr: Late-season struggles similar to what ’96 Bulls faced

The Warriors have five regular season games remaining – next up are the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday night at Oracle – and can lose one more and still set the record they have been linked to all season: 73 wins.

Previous meetings: The Warriors and Blazers have faced off three times this season, twice at the Moda Center and once at Oracle Arena. They’re within reach of that (as are the San Antonio Spurs), and also still have a shot at tying or breaking the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ record for the best regular-season mark – 72-10. Portland is one of the few teams that has beaten Golden State this season, but the Warriors have won and covered the spread in two of the three meetings this season.

Stephen Curry scored 39 points as the Golden State Warriors bounced back from defeat with a 136-111 rout of the Portland Trail Blazers yesterday.

Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard, right, drives the ball against Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green (23) during the first half of an NBA basketball game, Sunday, April 3, 2016, in Oakland, Calif.

“We’ve played against some really good teams that’s been hot as of late”, James said. The Trail Blazers never got closer than 10 point in the fourth quarter.

With Friday’s 109-106 loss to Boston, the Warriors (68-8) 54-game winning streak at home was snapped and the pressure of maintaining it was lifted from their shoulders.

They have a half-game lead over Portland for the fifth playoff seed in the Western Conference. He buried nine of his 13 3-point attempts which – as they tend to do – got progressively tougher and deeper as the game went on. The Warriors did something that no other team in history had done before and they could very well hold that record forever. Celtics and Jazz teams have suffocated the Warriors. Al-Farouq Aminu put in a yeoman effort to finish with 10 points, six rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes. They come in needing five wins in their last seven to do so – and would be playing at home – a place they had not lost since January – of past year. He finished with 2 points and 3 rebounds. But after falling behind by 11 points early, the Warriors found their groove and improved to 8-0 following losses this season, outscoring the opposition by 15 points a contest. The last time Messi, Suárez or Neymar played a game at home and all failed to score was on August 29, 2015 vs Málaga.

Trail Blazers update: Portland won its fourth in a row on Saturday, coasting past the Miami Heat 110-93.

Of the 54 wins 34 of those games resulted in wins that were in double figures with the largest margin of victory being a 50 point win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Curry’s version of “chucking” is much different from the average player’s version, as he can seemingly make a shot from anywhere on the floor at any time.
