NY judge nixes singer Kesha’s abuse claims vs. producer
As we reported, Kesha tried to get an emergency order giving her the right to get out of her Sony deal, on grounds Dr. Luke allegedly raped her and Sony was tormenting her by holding her to the deal.

Metro.co.uk have contacted a spokesperson for the singer for comment.
In a significant victory for Luke and his label Kemosabe Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment, New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich has thrown out Kesha’s claims that Luke violated hate crime laws by physically, sexually, and verbally abusing her.
The judge also smacked down her arguments that Gottwald was guilty of a “hate crime” for allegedly raping her. Kesha’s war against Sony has come to an end, as a judge just dismissed her latest lawsuit, in which she claimed she had become a slave to the record company.
Dr Luke has denied the claims that he sexually assaulted the singer.
“Insults about her value as an artist, her looks, and her weight are insufficient to constitute extreme, outrageous conduct intolerable in civilized society”, wrote Kornreich.
His lawyers note that during sworn questioning in another lawsuit in 2011, Kesha said Dr Luke “never made sexual advances” toward her or gave her the date-rape drug known as a “roofie”. “The claim is time-barred”, states the judge’s opinion.
After being told she must honour the agreement, Kesha’s attorney, Mark Geragos, compared the situation to “slavery” and filed an appeal last month (Mar16), claiming the contract was too restrictive. This move comes as a result of Kesha’s apparent refusal to work with other producers that would have been provided by Sony. The maker of an upcoming PBS mini-series about pop music has said he is considering cutting scenes which feature Dr Luke, while Kesha has received support from a number of celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Adele and Lady Gaga.
