Windies board takes swipe at Sammy’s `inappropriate` jibe
Darren Sammy’s role in leading the West Indies to the ICC World Twenty20 2016 title has been recognised by St Lucia, the country of his birth, as it was announced that the island’s main cricket ground would be renamed in his honour. “To see Carlos Brathwaite play like that in his debut World Cup that shows the depth we have in the Caribbean in T20 cricket and hopefully by the right structure we can do better in ODIs and Tests”, Sammy said at the post-match presentation ceremony”.

“I miscued the third one, but a 65-metre six and a 94-metre six are still six runs”, said Brathwaite. “I don’t know, maybe my face is real and his face is not”.
The 32-year-old also threw his unconditional support behind skipper Darren Sammy, who was reprimanded by the WICB for being critical of the board after guiding the Caribbean team to their second World Twenty20 title on Sunday in Kolkata.
“(Grenada’s) Prime Minister (Keith) Mitchell sent a very inspiring email for the team this morning… and I’m yet to hear from our own cricket board.
“We need to go into the schools and try to get girls to come out”, said Taylor.
Samuels and Stokes, who have a history of onfield clashes, had more verbal exchanges during the final over which led to the West Indies batsman being fined 30 percent of his match fee.
After the final, the player of the match, Marlon Samuels, dedicated his award to his long-time adversary Shane Warne and had some choice words for England’s Ben Stokes, before Sammy once again turned to Nicholas’s remarks.
A long-running pay dispute between the West Indies star players and the board centres on the WICB’s refusal to negotiate contracts with anyone other than the West Indies Players Association, even though only one of the 15-man squad in India is a WIPA member. “He got back to me at midnight in the throes of celebrating so fair play to him”. We were probably 40 short, it was a 180-190 wicket.
“It is why we have to put these talented guys at the front and centre of English cricket going forward”. I truly believe this only a start of something special.

Samuels chose the moment of victory to stick the knife into Stokes’s already tender flanks branding him a “nervous lad” who does not learn.
