The World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated that there is now scientific consensus that the Zika virus is connected with microcephaly – a condition in which babies are born with very small heads and brain damage. That’s because they show the potential range of two types of mosquitoes that are known to be carriers of the virus and CT in within their sights.

“Really what we’re dealing with is a patchwork of mosquito control operations in the country of varying quality”, said Lyle Petersen, MD, director of the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases at the CDC and the man who is leading the agency’s Zika response.

According to the California Department of Public Health, which updates the number of Zika cases on its website each week, the Golden State now has a total of 30 cases from 2015 through Friday.

Congressional Republicans told Mr. Obama to spend leftover Ebola funds instead of seeking a cash infusion to fight the Zika virus, which is circulating through Latin America and Puerto Rico and could puncture the USA mainland in the coming months.

At CDC, we are scaling up lab capacity to test for Zika infection and strengthening efforts to control the mosquito that spreads Zika. “Access to contraception in Puerto Rico is limited for couples who want to avoid pregnancy during this outbreak”.

USA researchers have succeeded in getting details of the Zika virus’s surface.

It’s quite hard to actually prove that happens, but it is important that every country keeps an eye out for it and I think that is happening as much as it can, especially considering a lot of these Zika virus infections don’t result in any sort of signs or symptoms of disease. Through their collaboration with the CDC Foundation, SC Johnson’s support of today’s Summit is part of an ongoing commitment to provide information and at least $15 million in product to help protect families from the Zika virus.

Though Zika isn’t spreading locally in the continental USA, the CDC has recorded 312 travel-related cases in the 50 states and D.C., including 27 cases in pregnant women.

Frieden described the main mosquito that spreads Zika, the Aedes aegypti, as the “cockroach of mosquitoes” because it tends to live in and around human homes.

Earlier in March, SteelFisher and her colleagues polled 1,275 adults, including 105 from households where a woman was pregnant or expecting to become pregnant in the next 12 months. It may be linked to an increase in birth defects and in Guillain-Barre syndrome, a neurological illness that generally lasts a few weeks.
