Lions preseason foes: Steelers, Bengals, Ravens, Bills

The NFC champion Carolina Panthers revealed their preseason schedule for the 2016 season Thursday.

Carolina returns home in Week 3 to take on the New England Patriots (Aug. 25-28) before finishing the preseason with a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, Sept. 1. Detroit leads Pittsburgh 10-8-0 in the all-time preseason series. The matchup will mark the eighth preseason meeting between the two teams and first since 2013 when the Bills and Colts opened the preseason in Indianapolis.

The exhibition slate comes to a close at Ford Field against Buffalo on September 1.

Specific dates and times of the team’s 2016 preseason schedule will be announced at a later date.

This is the second straight year the Lions and Browns have not played in the preseason.

The Lions conclude the road portion of their 2016 preseason schedule with a road contest against the Baltimore Ravens.

After that, the Lions host Cincinnati (Aug. 18-22), giving Jones a chance to play against the team he was with the last four years. The two teams will meet for the 15 consecutive year in an exhibition game and for the 36 time in preseason history. Carolina traveled to Tennessee in the 2015 regular season and to Baltimore in the 2014 regular season.
