The Global Gateway Alliance, a Manhattan-based group that lobbies for improvements to LaGuardia, Kennedy and Newark Liberty, called the plan’s announcement “an important step in bringing New York’s airports closer to par with competitors around the nation and the world”.

Assuming approval from airport owner Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the work would begin on the first half in 2016 and be completed in 2019.

The plan is expected to link its four terminals, double the space for aircraft and ease delays.
In May the Port Authority awarded a 3 million construction contract for the new terminal to a consortium known as LaGuardia Gatewaty Parters.
