Puddle of Mudd singer Scantlin accused of DWI, fleeing

By the time all was said and done, the singer was charged with DWI and for fleeing a police officer. Instead, Scantlin attempted to make a run for it and ended up leading the cops on a 100 miles per hour chase, reported TMZ.

According to Renville County Sheriff’s Department, an officer observed a vehicle traveling 30 miles per hour above the speed limit on Highway 212. He had spent the night in the Renville County Jail in Olivia after being taken into custody around 4 a.m. Sunday. It was reported that Scantlin was driving four times faster than the legal limit and led cops on a 100-mile-per-hour chase. Police reports reveal that when the arresting officer finally managed to get Scantlin to stop his vehicle he immediately detected the strong smell of alcohol coming from Wes Scantlin, who was also slurring his words. 212 between Bird Island and Hector, and a preliminary breath test at the scene measured his blood alcohol content at 0.31 percent, according to the charges.

This was not Scantlin’s first trouble with the law. In June, Puddle of Mudd had to cancel a show in Michigan after the singer missed his plane. After speaking with his attorney, Scantlin refused further alcohol concentration tests. He was eventually charged with DWI and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. As a result, additional charges were slapped on. He was arrested for domestic violence in 2013. Wes Scantlin is certainly an interesting character as he had “happily” signed his divorce settlement with his wife of four years, Jessica.
