‘Batman v Superman’ falls 68 percent in second weekend
Last year, collection of Fantastic Four was dropped by 68.2 percent in the second week.

It was widely anticipated that BvS would fall over 60%.
The Universal-produced sequel enjoyed a small drop of 37.7 percent as it sits as the only romantic comedy in current wide release.
“We’re not concerned with the drop”, said Warner Bros.
That passes the lifetime gross of Man Of Steel, the most recent Superman film, which pulled in US$668 million worldwide during its 2013 run. The film also set a new record for the best film opening in March. Not only did they expect it to drop but they also anticipated the lack of direct competition after the holiday to bode well for the picture’s moneymaking potential.
“It is a pretty significant drop, but this was expected”, says Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for comScore. The rest of Hollywood didn’t schedule any big openings likely choosing to stay out of the way of what they perceived would be a juggernaut.
In its debut weekend, it raked in a whopping $166 million despite a number of negative reviews.
Speaking to JOE.ie, Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder says he’s pushing Affleck in that direction.
Warner Bros. will still make money off the film, but my suggestion is that the studio should reconsider changing the formula for the upcoming Justice League movie. The film underperformed expectations, and was unable to exceed the success of the original “God is Not Dead”, despite the fact it opened in 1,639 more theaters than the first film. Neither, however, landed in the week’s top three spots.
Disney’s “Zootopia” held on to second place with a robust $20 million, bringing its domestic total to $275.9 million. Although Meet the Blacks is ranked slightly ahead at the moment, that could all change when the final numbers come out later today.
In third is last week’s new release My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, with a weekend take of $11.2 million. This tied the film for No. 8 with the Bleecker Street drama Eye in the Sky, starring Oscar victor Helen Mirren. It now ranks 84th on the all-time list of the highest global grosses of all time, which is nothing to sneeze at. The faith-based film is a sequel to the 2014 hit.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 dipped by 72% – from $169.2 million to $47.4 million – in its first two weekends.
Unfortunately, fortunes weren’t so bright for two other newcomers: Meet the Blacks, a spoof of The Purge, opened with $4.1 million.

In limited release, Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!! In just four theaters, the film, which Cheadle directed and co-wrote, pulled in $122,751 for a strong per-theater average of $30,688.
