Story hits 2 HRs in debut as Rockies win

Rookie shortstop Trevor Story (left) continued his early tear for the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday with his third home run in two games against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Greinke actually drove in the D-backs’ first run of the season with an infield single in the second inning, but the tides turned a half inning later with the Rockies putting up six runs highlighted by Story’s three-run homer.

LeMahieu hit his second homer of the season for a 3-0 lead in the third inning and Raburn hit his first for a 4-2 lead in the seventh.

A little while later Hale said, “It’s one game”. Diamondbacks’ fans need not be afraid; that was likely not a representative glimpse into Greinke’s career in Arizona.

Corbin (0-1) pitched seven innings, giving up four runs and eight hits. Story is also off to a much better start than when former Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki began with Colorado.

Story also is the first player in baseball history to hit a home run for each of his first four hits, according to information provided to the Rockies by the Elias Sports Bureau.

He also allowed three home runs, while walking one and striking out two in route to his first loss of the year. Greinke gave up three home runs that day in a 12-11 slug-fest ultimately won by Arizona.

And it wasn’t just at the plate where Story excelled. “He’s showing everybody just how talented he is, the type of talent that we’ve seen out of him for many years”.

Justin Miller (1-0) pitched 1 1-3 scoreless innings of relief to get the victory. “Our offense did a good job of getting us back in the game”. “It’s tough to be positive about a start like that, you give up six runs in one inning, but those kind of innings are going to happen”.

Trevor Story’s history making blast came in the first inning and made sure the Rockies were always playing from in front, immediately putting the Diamondbacks on their heels. He was expected to stand trial April 4, but it was reported that the pending charges against him were expected to be dropped because his wife, who was the alleged victim, was failing to cooperate with prosecutors.

MLB’s new policy allows Manfred to impose punishment on Reyes even without a conviction, as he did in the case of Aroldis Chapman, who received a 30-game suspension for a case in which no charges were actually filed. Weiss said he has “no idea” when Commissioner Rob Manfred might decide on any potential punishment for the 32-year-old Reyes.

The Colorado Rockies put together another big inning against an Arizona starter.
