Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr.7: Two militants were killed during a gun battle with security forces in a village in Shopian district of South Kashmir early on Thursday.

Terming the killing of Pandit and Malla as a “major breakthrough” in the anti-militancy operations, the officer said the top leadership of the terrorist outfit was now “almost finished”. The facts are being ascertained said a senior official.

Among the dead was a former policeman, who after deserting the police force previous year had joined the militants’ ranks.

The operation was launched after security forces were tipped off by the intelligence bureau about the presence of militants in the area. The security forces are now carrying out search operations in the area. Two weapons were recovered from the militants. Naseer Pandit was Personal Security Officer with former State Public Works Minister Altaf Bukhari and ran away with his rifle and joined Hizb.
