Vickers ready for 3 in a row, Stewart still no timetable
Carl Edwards on Friday won the pole for Saturday night’s Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – Jimmie Johnson certainly knows his way to Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway.
Looking fit and exhibiting a healthy dose of humor with his humility, NASCAR champion Tony Stewart accepted Texas Motor Speedway’s award for his charitable contributions to the Texas chapter of the Speedway Children’s Charities organization Thursday night in the track’s grand banquet room overlooking the speedway.
“The good news is every Sunday when the race is over, I’m not mad at anybody, and nobody is mad at me”, said Stewart, who has struggled on the track the past few years. “It’s up there. To have that fast of a race vehicle is huge but I like this place”.
“And we’ve hit on some things here over the past couple of trips, and it consistently works for us”.
One previously hot driver, A.J. Allmendinger, cooled considerably during Texas qualifying as he will start 23rd. None of the past 10 winners had qualified worse than 10th.
Still, Johnson has dominated in his No. 48 Chevrolet at Texas, where his record six Sprint Cup wins are twice as many as the next closest driver – Carl Edwards, the polesitter.
With the killer track history to the side, you can’t beat Six-time’s 1.5-mile pace so far in 2016.
The No. 20 Toyota driver only has one top-10 finish in the first six races, one year after amassing five victories and 19 top-10 showings.
(Allmendinger) “It’s you know a place that I’ve had decent runs, but I’ve never really had great runs there”.
Fortunately, our own resident NASCAR expert and weekend editor Alanis King is coming along as well to remind me that there won’t be a random GTE-Am Ferrari taking out the overall race leader, and to show me the ways of the vast, mythical oval world. Staying with the pattern, this is his week to be in the top ten plus Logano has a streak of top five finishes in his last three Texas spring races. Kyle raced only half the season a year ago and won the championship, so I feel pretty good about where we’re at to be honest with you. He should have his best finish of the season and if all goes right, maybe his first victory. “I like the challenge of the different ends of the race track that are different and the worn out pavement”. “I felt like going to sleep last night that we had a auto that could quite possibly be on the pole today”.
“I made a little mistake, and I thought that was going to cost us”, the Joe Gibbs Racing Series driver said. Enjoy night racing, and insert a random catchphrase here.
Below is the official event schedule from Texas Motor Speedway. The goat was revealed Friday, with Gossage saying Lil’ Dale will serve as “part mascot, part good-luck charm” at the track.

Busch is seeking his second career win at Fort Worth, having also won the race in 2013. That could change Saturday night in Texas and I’m picking Brad Keselowski for the win.
