Tyler, the Creator says he’s been “banned from Australia”

He wrote “T is now banned from Australia, you won”. Speaking to 3AW in June, co-founder Melinda Tankard Reist said Tyler “advocates rape and extreme violence against women through his lyrics”.

While he didn’t clarify why he has been banned, he mentioned Coralie Alison, the Director of Operations at Collective Shout, who reportedly started a petition to revoke his travel visa.

However, if the action has been successful this has not been conveyed to the tour promoter, Frontier Touring, which issued a statement denying any such result at this stage. “His incitement of violence towards one of our activists made headlines around the world and was cited when New Zealand Immigration authorities blocked his entry there past year”. Tyler went on an expletive-laden rant, calling out Stone for protesting him and her group’s on-going effort to ban him from the country. Yeah, I got a sold-out show right now bitch. If true that would force the cancellation of his September tour which had him scheduled to perform in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. He is now promoting Cherry Bomb, his third studio album, which was unveiled to generally positive reviews earlier this year.

“With respect to media reports that Tyler, The Creator’s visa has been refused, Frontier would like to advise that this is not the case”, the statement says. At the time, a group called Collective Shout called for the rapper’s visa to be taken away and his shows to be cancelled on the grounds that his lyrics incite hatred against women.
