Bernie Sanders claims win in Wyoming but Hillary Clinton retains overall lead

But thanks to how the Democratic Party of Wyoming awards pledged delegates, the state’s 14 delegates will be awarded evenly – 7 each. The Texas Senator already had locked up the support of 21 Colorado delegates and visited the state to try to pad his numbers there. “I don’t know why he made them in the first place”.

“As I said”, Clinton added, “I would take him over Donald Trump or Ted Cruz any day”. But the war of words among candidates becomes more brutal and nasty as the presidential nomination race now turns white hot.

Clinton and Sanders both spent Saturday campaigning in NY, which holds its contest on April 19 and where a total of 291 delegates are up for grabs, more than 10 percent of the tally needed to win the party’s nomination. So far, he’s winning 46 percent. Marco Rubio, who suspended his campaign, has 171 delegates. “We expect and intend to do very well here in NY state and pick up a lot of delegates here and in some of the other states”.

Cruz has detoured from next-to-vote NY to speak to the Republican Jewish Coalition, while Trump and John Kasich declined the group’s invitations.

Bernie Sanders was combative Saturday morning during a rally stop in Washington Heights in New York City, calling on Hillary Clinton to “stop being vague” about her plan to tax income and increase Social Security benefits.

Sanders campaign spokesman Vivek Kembaiyan said in a news release that he was speaking at a rally at LaGuardia Community College in Queens, N.Y., when his wife, Jane, went on stage to tell him the news.

He picked up at least seven delegates to Democrat rival Mrs Clinton’s six.

Clinton leads with 1,309 pledged delegates as compared to Sanders’s 1,094.

Although Sanders was favored in the Wyoming Democratic race, Clinton, as she has in most states, had endorsements from more elected officials, and the state’s four superdelegates are supporting her. In 2008, she lost to Barack Obama in Wyoming by 24 percentage points. Sanders has 1,068. On Friday in New York, Clinton said, “I want to do everything I can to make sure (New York’s minimum wage) works and to raise it at the federal level”. “Just think about the jobs that would be created in Wyoming if we chose to maximize your capacity to export wind as you export coal”, he said.

While in Brooklyn she stopped by Juniors for not one but three pieces of cheesecake.

There’s also a difference among registered Democrats and independent voters, who are allowed to vote in California’s Democratic primary. The state has 14 apportioned delegates.

Carried forward, this means that the Republicans could face greater challenge to motivate voters in the presidential elections this fall, Gallup said.

Clinton aides and supporters pushed back aggressively.

Trump supporters were frustrated by Colorado’s arcane process, which involved a series of caucuses at different locations before the convention.
