The West Indies board has offered talks with its new World Twenty20 champions to defuse a long-running dispute, saying it wants to find ways of ensuring players don’t turn their backs on global cricket.

The women’s captain, Stafanie Taylor of Jamaica, was named player of the tournament. We share the pain, we share our success, I hope in the future we have a lot more success, I personally think we will.

“It is cruel”, England captain Eoin Morgan told reporters after the match.

“The so-called experts, commentators, journalists did not give us a chance”.

“We had a lot of issues, we felt disrespected by our board, Mark Nicholas described our team as a team with no brains”, said Sammy in his on-field interview.

West Indies’ Samuel Badree is the number-one ranked bowler and he leads fellow wrist-spinner Imran Tahir of South Africa by 50 points, while India’s Ravichandaran Ashwin is in third position, another 28 points behind. “To come out and play this sort of cricket in front of passionate fans was incredible”.

After a less than stellar start to their chase of 155 runs set by England, Marlon Samuels and Carlos Brathwaite dug deep and found the win in the final overs with Samuels posting 85 runs while Brathwaite sent England home with a fantastic display of skill by smashing four sixes in a row-all in the final over.

“We wish all the West Indies teams continued success as we look to continue supporting them through our partnership with the West Indies Cricket Board”.

Two weeks since landing in India after the tumultuous build-up, at Eden Gardens they became the first team to win the World Twenty20 twice, courtesy of the most explosive batting ever seen in the climax to any one-day final.

Sammy said the players were very focused and aware that winning the title was the only way to answer their critics.

Stokes had been at his miserly best when, along with Jordan, he defended 22 runs in the final two overs against Sri Lanka and the duo conceded just 20 in the last four in the semi-final win against New Zealand. We stick together as a side. T20 is a totally different format.

“We must not overlook the contribution of the West Indies Cricket Board, the coaching and management staff, the sponsors, and ardent fans, they have all played their part in this momentous occasion for West Indies cricket which undoubtedly remains an emblem of regional integration, pride and joy”.
