Tesla Model 3 heading to South Africa

Many analysts consider the Model 3 to be a make-or-break product for Tesla, whose stock price has soared 60 percent since hitting a 12-month low in February.

At a starting price of $35,000 — before federal and state government incentives — the Model 3 is less than half the cost of Tesla’s previous models.

CEO Elon Musk revealed the long-awaited Tesla Model 3 Thursday night.

Talking about the Model 3, Elon Musk stated that the vehicle will feature Tesla’s auto pilot feature and can easily cover 346km with a single charge.

One small concern is the Model 3 2017 delivery date, as Musk says that he has complete confidence. The bookings for the Model 3 were opened 24 hours prior to the unveiling of the vehicle, and even those who have booked the cars now will have to wait more than a year to get their hands on the Model 3.

The Model 3 is finally here and everyone seems to be very pleased. Preorders for the Model 3 reached over 115,000 during the event.

Since its inception, Tesla Motors has enjoyed some success with the Roadster, then with the Model S. Then the Model X came along late past year, arriving with the company’s usual brand of pomp and circumstance.

With a theoretical range of around 215 miles there won’t be too much need to be watching the energy gauge, and a 0-60mph time of under six seconds will give even the most adrenaline-seeking driver something to enjoy.

Musk said that the company’s Autopilot 3 self-driving feature will be available as standard, as will support for its Superchargers – which deliver enough power for 170 miles in 30 minutes.

The promise of an affordable electric vehicle from Tesla Motors had hundreds of people lining up to reserve one.

Priced at $35,000 this vehicle is Tesla’s cheapest yet, and will mark its transition from a luxury auto manufacturer to a more general consumer company.
