Codemasters Buys Evolution Studios

This morning Codemasters announced that the team behind DriveClub will now become a part of the DiRT Rally developer. Mike Hocking of Evolution is now the VP of product development at Codemasters, and will oversee all of the companies studios, including the Evolution team.

Meanwhile Paul Rustchynsky, who worked under Evolution for more than a decade, took to Twitter to express his own excitement about the new beginning for both him and his team.

United Kingdom-based Codemasters, the maker of the Dirt and F1 racing games, aims to create a racing game powerhouse with the acquisition. Sony retails all the previous IPs, for obvious reasons, but don’t be surprised to hear in a few months that Codemasters is working on an AutoGale instead of Motorstorm. The 30-year-old Codemaster is a reputed video game developer and publisher, in which Reliance Big Reliance Big Entertainment had acquired a 60 percent stake in 2010. The game launched in Early Access on Steam in April 2015 and officially released last December.
