Tesla Finally Reveals Affordable Model 3

Elon Musk will wake up happy today because of the hype that his company created with the unveiling of the Tesla Model 3.

All of the Model 3 anticipation is finally over.

Although deliveries won’t begin until late 2017, the Model 3 has now gone on sale for $35,000 (below £25,000 at current exchange rates) and Tesla claims to have taken 115,000 orders globally already.

Since its inception, Tesla Motors has enjoyed some success with the Roadster, then with the Model S. Then the Model X came along late past year, arriving with the company’s usual brand of pomp and circumstance.

Tesla has revealed the price of its long-anticipated Model 3 electric auto – its most “affordable” vehicle to date.

Musk said the Model 3 will seat five comfortably, and he emphasized “comfortably”. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, also stated that safety will not be compromised on the Model 3. About an hour later, the ticker had hit 137,760, suggesting that the Model 3 may be a huge success out of the gate. And with regard to range, it can reach as much as 215 miles per charge.

As expected, the Model 3 will cost $35,000 (£24,500) before incentives. The Model 3 will commence shipping by the end of 2017. Musk showed off the auto yesterday evening at the company’s design studio in Hawthorne, Calif.

Tesla Model 3 electric auto features a glass roof. The counter was stopped at around 150,000, which – if paid for in full – would equate to more than $5 billion in sales, and three times the number of cars Tesla managed to build in total in 2015.

The basic Tesla Model 3 will accelerate from 0-60mph in less than six seconds, while other models will go faster. Last year, the Model S was the best-selling electric auto in the US, with 25,700 cars purchased.
