Lexi Thompson takes early 2nd-round lead in ANA Inspiration
Lexi Thompson, who looked like she might putt her way out of the tournament midway through Saturday’s round, eagled the 18th hole to take the outright lead at 10-under 206 heading into the final round of the ANA Inspiration.

Salas and Park shot 67. “Just having them out here keeps the adrenaline going”.
“It’s a dramatic change”, Thompson said.
Thompson, the 2014 champion, was the clubhouse leader early on day two after carding a 68.
Short off the tee and in stature at 5-foot-2, Miyazato is far more conservative than Thompson at tree-lined Mission Hills.
Ko, meanwhile, hit a solid if unspectacular round comprising three birdies and 15 pars as she chases the second major of her career following last year’s win at the Evian Championship.
The seven-time LPGA tour victor was particularly impressed with her finish in tough conditions.
Another revelation about Jutanugarn’s effort is that she hasn’t used a driver all week.
Well back off the tee, the Spaniard hit her second shot into the right fairway bunker.
Jutanugarn, who shot 67 in the third round and trails by one, ranks 10th this week in driving distance at 264.3.
When asked about her sister not using her driver, Moriya laughed.
“I know how hard it is to be No. 1 in the world because I’ve experienced it before”, Miyazato said. The newly crowned Kia Classic champ plodded along with 15 pars and three birdies to shoot 69. She missed the cut here this week, so she was out supporting her little sister on Saturday and taking pictures of her being interviewed post-round.
Jim Herman and Jamie Lovemark, two players who have never won a PGA Tour event or played in the Masters, shared the lead going into the final round of the Houston Open.
Ko said it was really frustrating during her bogey-free back nine. The U.S. Women’s Open champion was hurt when she was struck by a hard-case suitcase that rival player Ha Na Jang’s father dropped down an escalator at the Singapore airport. I think it was just a matter of time until things started happening and it did today.
World number one, Ko, remains the woman to beat although her previous record in this event has not been good by her standards with a best of 25th in three appearances. Her caddie, Adam Woodward, made a fantastic flying leap when he won with Sun Young Yoo in 2012. “I’m going to still say to myself, ‘Just be patient and just have fun'”.
Hull, 20, birdied the last four holes to put herself in prime position, making putts from 25, 45, 12 and 2 feet.
Chun said she starting hitting balls again only six days before the tournament. She took a one-shot lead into Saturday, but her new red-hot Cure putter cooled in the middle of the round.
“I’ve been really working on my attitude, but the results haven’t really showed, even though I’ve been doing so much better”, Munoz said. “I left quite a few out there that were kind of similar on line, but just short”. “Every round it seems there are more fans and not only just from Canada”. Wie’s mad scramble on Saturday included a ideal 4-for-4 in sand saves.
Thompson struggled with her putting for most of the day but still managed a big finish.
“I kind of always saw how Jack putted and it kind of worked out OK for him”, Wie said. But I’m very proud of what I did today. Maybe watch a movie.

“I was playing a little bit timid”, Thompson told Golf Channel.
