Tesla Model 3 Spotted Driving Around In Public
Customers paid a $1,000 deposit to reserve the Model 3, but the total orders could lead to $14 billion in future sales, Tesla said in a blog post.

A week ago, we started taking reservations for Model 3, and the excitement has been incredible.
Inside, it’s got room for five adults and a tablet-style infotainment screen, plus a large glass roof and technology which includes the semi-autonomous autopilot feature introduced on the Model S.
The company said it’s “a huge step toward a better future by accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation”.
Despite the brisk pre-orders, Tesla stumbled on production of the Model S and Model X in the first quarter.
The Tesla Model 3 will be available in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD models internationally.
To conclude, the vehicle is the biggest product launch ever, the company is likely comparing the Model 3 launch to Apple’s product launches in new categories, e.g. the iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. The company has received more than 325,000 reservations, it said in an update Thursday morning.
It’s only a week since the Tesla Model 3 was revealed – the new affordable compact premium electric auto from Tesla – and it’s caused a bit of a stir. The next day, orders topped 200,000 and a few days later approached 300,000. The reveal of the completed Model 3, finished interior and all, is yet to come.
However, it’ll take some time to ramp up production to that level, and many people are expecting customers will have to wait until well after the proposed late 2017 launch date to receive their cars. Its current vehicles – the $70,000-plus Model S luxury sedan and $80,000-$144,000 Model X SUV – were both delayed by the company. The company also joked that it would have written more on the subject, but needed to get back to increasing its Model 3 production plans.

Following those initial numbers, the first full-week numbers were anticipated to be 350,000-400,000 vehicles, according to one Wall Street firm.
