T-Mobile says that it’s pushing an Android 5.1 update to its HTC One M9 starting today, July 27. The update will bump the phone to software version 2.7.531.6 and it includes Android 5.1, anti-theft, Google Wallet, and battery improvements. As always with such over-the-air updates, it may be a few days (or even weeks) before all One M9 units purchased from T-Mobile get the download notification, but at least it’s on its way now. The Anti-Theft feature is the “Factory Reset Protection” that you can find on all the other Android 5.1 smartphones.

The update weighs 446MB OTA and will also support for improvements to the NVIDIA device’s exclusive DirectStylus features, audio, display, and app compatibility repairs – all new treats from the latest Android OS version. Don’t worry in case the new official Lollipop firmware upgrade doesn’t arrive today for your device. That was last week and although it’s not officially late, the update is now finally ready to roll out on T-Mobile. T-Mobile also recommends that users must charge their smartphone up to at least 50 percent and connect to a Wi-Fi network to download the update to prevent exorbitant charges on mobile data.
