The Apple iPhone SE will be officially released on the 31st of March. No pricing or launch details are given, but both devices are said to be coming “soon”.
With the iPhone SE, Apple will test just how much price has been constraining demand.
Smaller was a continuing theme at Apple’s event in Cupertino, California, where the tech company also unveiled a downsized version of the iPad Pro that will replace the iPad Air 2. The more compact phone design comes after Apple expanded the size of the screens in its high-end iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phones in 2014 to as large as 5.5 inches. One of the biggest innovations and achievements of Apple was the fact that they came out with the iPhone devices, which have changed the perspective of the markets altogether. For instance, the 32GB variant will start at $599, the 128GB variant will be priced at $749 and the 256GB variant will cost you $899.
Getting an iPhone below US$400?
The iPhone SE comes with a 4-inch Retina display boasting a resolution of 1136×640 pixels and runs on the new iOS 9.3.
Other stones that were left unturned include the older 1.2MP front-facing camera from the iPhone 5S, which is also old in contrast to the 5MP HD Facetime camera on the upgraded 6S model. The iPhone SE is a great, powerful device if you’re looking for something smaller than 4.8-inches. Still, Apple sold 74.5 million units in the same quarter in 2014.

“Tim Cook has said he thinks there’s a lot of life left in the iPhone product line, despite the media and investor community pressuring Apple over the potential decline in premium iPhone sales”, Blau said. Apple is taking pre-orders with the device starting at $13.30 monthly with carrier financing or starting at $399 for outright purchase. iPhone SE buyers can choose from silver, rose gold, gold, or space gray colors.
