The apologies came hours after Delhi police commissioner B S Bassi threw down the gauntlet and challenged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for a debate.

Stepping up attack on Kejriwal, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay said that the Chief Minister has not only crossed all limits of political morality but has shamed the humanity with his advertisement running on radio and TV channels. The constable, Harvinder, who is posted at the Govindpuri police station, had filed the case on July 18 at the same police station.
The complaint filed by advocate L. N. Rao claimed that “the “thulla” remark given by a person of the stature of chief minister has demoralised Delhi Police and it was intended to provoking breach of peace”.
Kejriwal explained in a interview “I meant to say that policemen harass street vendors and poor people who supported us a lot and with their support, we won 67 seats”.
“…Using a derogatory and demeaning term like “thulla” to refer to police personnel is equivalent to referring to all Delhi Police officials as lethargic and unproductive”. I used the word against such policemen.
“It can be a debate lasting a day or more to discuss and clear all doubts”, Bassi said.
“I can handle this issue by relying on my knowledge of the affairs of the Delhi Police and overall policing experience”, he added.
There has been ongoing controversy between Delhi government and Bassi which soared after the stabbing incident in West Delhi.

He said the party will soon send a team of 20 leaders to Bihar in this regard.
